7th & 8th Grade ~ Week of 11/02

You have the power to change your World~

Throughout History American Society has had Social Issues like Segregation. These issues were addressed and changed by the Average Everyday American. Enough People stood up and said, the US should be Integrated. It would prove to be a long process in the execution of changing American ways.

Since the Overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom, the Hawaiian Nation has been fighting for Sovereignty. This year Native Hawaiians are electing Leaders to form a Constitution in order to become Self-governing.

Let's take a look at America in the 50's ~

Let's back up and pick up where the Hawaiian Sovereignty Movement begins ~

One of the things they are attempting to determine is how to make this History right again. The Native Hawaiian People have been presented with the solutions offered to Native American Tribes. These do not adequately fit our case because we have money and a wealth of Lands. We were never a threat and we were never really legally obtained by the United States. This fact was acknowledged by Bill Clinton in 1993.

The work of Sovereignty and putting History Right, requires the diligent Education of each Generation and forthcoming of opportunity to exercise our American Rights to Protest, Petition and Check the Systems of Government Control.

Martin Luther King, Jr., and other now Historic figures, rallied thousands of the American People to Action by organizing a March to Washington where he delivered his "I have a Dream" Speech.

According to the US Constitution, you have a right to Change Your World ~
